Ketan Kansara was born and brought up in the heart of Bollywood, Mumbai, but it was not until his late twenties, after moving to the UK, that Ketan became inspired to follow his passion for singing.
Ketan began performing as a guest artist at private events and commenced vocal training from the renowned UK percussionist and producer, Pandit Dinesh in 2003. Under his guidance, Ketan recorded his first solo album and received great feedback for his vocal ability.
He later produced and performed his first solo show, Kishore’s Knight, a tribute to the late Kishore Kumar in January 2012 and since then has continued to reach out to retro Bollywood music fans in the UK with his tribute shows.
In 2017 he performed ‘Flashback - A Tribute to Hindi Cinema’ with a 40 piece orchestra at the prestigious Cadogan Hall, London. The first UK based Indian artist to do so. He also recently presented an Amitabh Bachchan tribute at the world
famous De Montfort Hall, Leicester and has just completed performing on the Amit Kumar UK Legacy Tour which was a huge success.
Ketans’ vocal ability is defined by his strong influence of classic Hindi cinema and the vocal style of the greats, including his idol, the legend Kishore Kumar. In his own words:
“I grew up with these songs, they are part of me, I spent my entire childhood and teens in Mumbai, and enjoyed listening and watching Hindi films. I have a connection with this music that can’t be taught, it has to be experienced, that’s why I perform the way I do, from the heart with passion and emotions that are unique to me. I love performing these tribute’s and keeping retro Bollywood alive!”
